Frontier Timbercraft is a family operated timberframe design and construction business located in British Columbia.
The philosophy of owners Gordon Eberding and Leigh (jerii) Cassidy is to remain small scale, which allows them to concentrate
on each frame without the distraction of multiple ongoing projects. It also means that since the business owners are the ones
working on the frame the quality of the frame can be better managed, as the line of communication from the client to the craftsman
is short.
Design of frames is done in house using the latest 3D CAD software on the market. This software is specifically designed
for timberframing, providing an ability to create frames, which can be of a very imaginative nature. It can also generate
graphic models so you can see what your frame will look like before the work begins.
The layout and joinery of the timbers is done in Frontier Timbercrafts shop. All timbers are then test fitted, sanded
and a finish is applied prior to delivery to the building site. The frame is therefore exposed to nature's harmful elements
for a minimal amount of time.
We can also consult with your contractors so they understand details that are particular to timberframes, such as proper
placement of the foundation and subfloor needed to support the timberframe.
Frontier Timbercraft specilizes in construction and raising of timberframes and encourages clients to hire local contractors
for other facets of their homes construction, as they are more efficient at what they do and also because they are located
near you so will not charge living out allowances or travel expenses.
As the frame is prefabricated and test fitted, the time spent at the building site to assemble and raise a frame is
relatively short, usually in the order of a weeks time; of this only one or two days of crane time is normally needed depending
on the design of the frame. It is great to see a frame come together so quickly. Raising day is an exciting time, and a prelude
to the finished home.
